🦷✨ Dr. Jane Goodall famously observed that chimpanzees, our closest genetic cousins, make and use tools. In the wild and at our sanctuary, the JGI team has observed how chimpanzees use sticks, grass stems, or even tough fibers to clean their teeth — much like a toothbrush! This natural tool use helps remove food particles and keeps their gums healthy. Observations like these remind us how intelligent and resourceful our closest relatives are.
