A lot of people have asked me if it was easy to connect with Lisa Lisa’s life story. What many don’t know is that it felt like I was telling my story too—because we shared so many similarities. I SAW her. I understood where she was coming from, her hunger, her drive. That need to prove to herself (and others) that she could be bigger than her “shortcomings” or her zip code… and, above all, I understood her unconditional love for her family—her mom and siblings most of all. I shot this scene just a couple of days after filming the moment where I gifted my “mom” (@lisalisall77 ) her brand-new car. Watching Lisa’s performance as her mom made it feel so real for me. I could see and feel how much that moment meant to them in real life. So when it came time to film this scene, it was so natural for me to feel her pain. I think I even improvised the line, “She was so happy,” because that’s truly what I had lived in that moment. This film was an out-of-body experience for me. I lived it. I felt it in a way I never have before. To play @lisalisall77 ’s life… to briefly step into what she went through… I know I’ll forever feel connected to you. You have my utmost respect, love, and support—forever and ever. 🫂🫂🫂🫶 And who better to do this scene with than @angiemartinez ? Wow. Your humanity shines through. Las chicas que me siguen saben que desde siempre mi propósito más grande ha sido utilizar mis propias experiencias para inspirarlas, compartir un poquito de la sabiduría que papito Dios me ha regalado, y de alguna manera u otra ser su HYPE WOMAN. Sin embargo después de muchos años de hacer eso llegó un momento en mi vida que me sentía muy pero muy vacía… Este último año decidí enfocarme mucho más en mi, dejé de crear contenido tanto como lo hacía antes para nutrirme a mí, para llenarme a mí.. y para amarme a mí. No ha sido un proceso fácil, pero creo que hoy me siento mucho más yo, mucho más conectada con Dios y mucho más completa… Me siento ready nuevamente para dar mi energía. Para compartir mi espiritualidad y alegría con ustedes. Para llenar a este mundo de más magia y optimismo… porque sé que lo necesitamos.
