Jearnest Corchado Instagram – A lot of people have asked me if it was easy to connect with Lisa Lisa’s life story. What many don’t know is that it felt like I was telling my story too—because we shared so many similarities. I SAW her. I understood where she was coming from, her hunger, her drive. That need to prove to herself (and others) that she could be bigger than her “shortcomings” or her zip code… and, above all, I understood her unconditional love for her family—her mom and siblings most of all.
I shot this scene just a couple of days after filming the moment where I gifted my “mom” (@lisalisall77 ) her brand-new car. Watching Lisa’s performance as her mom made it feel so real for me. I could see and feel how much that moment meant to them in real life. So when it came time to film this scene, it was so natural for me to feel her pain. I think I even improvised the line, “She was so happy,” because that’s truly what I had lived in that moment.
This film was an out-of-body experience for me. I lived it. I felt it in a way I never have before. To play @lisalisall77 ’s life… to briefly step into what she went through… I know I’ll forever feel connected to you. You have my utmost respect, love, and support—forever and ever. 🫂🫂🫂🫶
