Lauren Liess Instagram – We get asked a lot about our kitchen gardens / the structure etc so I wanted to share a video of our old garden in early spring (when the spring peepers were out!) I like to build raised beds with 5-6” ledges on top so we can sit on them for weeding/ hanging. The deer did NOT ever go up into this garden which was on a terrace with very low walls and filled with pea gravel. Don’t know if it was the stucco walls or the couple of steps up/ down needed to get in but they just didn’t enter. I also love a dining table or seating area in the garden because when I’ve done all that work to make a garden want to be able to sit, hang, eat and entertain in it. A central table also gets lots of use for picking in large quantities and having somewhere to set it all. 🌿 We also had wisteria growing up the back terrace and I never had any regrets about- it never hurt the house and I loved having something to cut back and I loved the romantic unbridled feel it gave to the place. 🌿 And finally, we have seedlings going in our cold frames right now and I am beyond excited!! happy planting!! | Posted on 09/Mar/2025 18:24:28
