In India, our culture is not confined to history—they are lived, breathed, and embodied. From the child dressed as Hanuman during Ramlila to the toddler in Krishna’s attire on their first birthday, every festival is more than a celebration; it is a living, breathing reminder of the values they teach. The valor and loyalty of Hanuman, the integrity and might of Krishna—these stories weave themselves into our lives, never needing to be revived, for they are not in the past but within us. Through these celebrations, our culture evolves with us, ever-present, guiding us, shaping us. And In every tradition, lies a lesson, timeless and powerful, that continues to shape our identity. My dream of stepping into the food business has finally come true after years of hard work, heartbreak, and hustle. @akhoimumbai is my true labor of love. I’ve poured my heart and soul into it, and it continues to demand everything from me, every single day. But nothing compares to the joy I feel knowing we’re feeding someone who’s hungry, comforting someone who’s unwell, or being part of someone’s celebration. To be a part of these moments however small makes it all worth it. Every challenge, every sacrifice fades when I see joy on someone’s face after a good meal. That’s the magic of food. And that’s the soul of Akhoi. Photography @sarikagangwal
