Mamrie Hart Instagram – Not everything is what it seems! Here are some moments from my cookbook that get their trickster on….
1) FALSE FINANCIER: This ain’t no dirty martini. Based on the French cookie, it’s a vanilla almond dessert sipper with marzipan olives.
2) SUNDAY CELERY ROOT: Inspired by the fast food chain that hates working on the Lord’s day but loves discrimination… This celery root is brined in pickle juice and has the most insanely delicious crispy coating. A simple showstopper!
3) BLOODY MARY BUTTER: Infused with all the goodness of the hangover cure, this butter will make you spread it. Oh, and that is also truffle butter shaped like a truffle and lightly dusted with bitter cocoa powder to shave tableside. Casual.
4) ROOT AL PASTOR: We overnight marinade our thin slices of sweet potato, turnip, whatever root veggies you have on hand then slowly roast them and get a little char to shave down into tacos.
5) BELUGA CAVIAR: Hold the fish eggs. These are Beluga lentils! Salty, briny, and perfect to dollop onto crème fraîche and top with all the accoutrements.
6) BROWN BUTTER & TARRAGON “SCALLOPS”: Those heart of palm scallops are one of my favorite things in the whole book! When it comes to subbing in for seafood, a heart of palm deserves an EGOT.
7) The biggest fool of all! Besides anyone who hasn’t pre-ordered.
