Erika Eleniak Instagram – Tales from the Crypt is an American horror series that aired on HBO between 1989 and 1996. The series became popular not only in the United States but also in many other countries, which led the film company Universal to decide to make three feature films based on the television series.
The 1996 film Bordello of Blood is the second film directed by Gilbert Adler from a screenplay by Adler and A.L. Katz, and a story by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. The film is about Katherine (Erika Eleniak) who works for a Christian TV show and can be described as piety personified. Her brother Caleb (Corey Feldman), on the other hand, is her exact opposite, a rude jerk who does not refuse life’s more sinful pleasures. When her brother does not come home from his usual bar crawl one day, Katherine begins to suspect that something really bad has happened to him. She therefore hires private detective Rafe Guttman (Dennis Miller) who soon finds out that it’s not just Caleb who has disappeared lately. The trail of the missing leads to a funeral home that hides a glamorous brothel, run by Lilith (Angie Everhart).
Filming took place in Vancouver, Canada between May and July 1995. Originally the movie was supposed to be released in October 1996 on Halloween but Universal didn’t have enough movies slated to be released in the summer so the movie premiered in August 1996. Bordello of Blood grossed $5.6 million, the movies budget was 2.5 million so it wasn’t a success for the studio. Upon release, the film was generally disliked by fans of the TV series, but later it developed a fanbase and is now considered a cult film. The film was panned by many critics in the media when it was released. Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film a grade of ‘D ‘ on a scale of A to F. The movie now has a user rating of 5.4 out of 10 on IMDB based on more than 16,000 votes. Erika Eleniak and Angie Everhart would eventually appear together on the second season of “The Real Gilligan’s Island” in 2005 as competing movie stars. Erika ended up as a winner between the two and would later end up as one of the three finalists of that season. #bordelloofblood
