The Beverly Hillbillies is a 1993 American film based on the television series of the same name, created by Paul Henning. The television series aired for nine seasons on CBS in the United States from 1962 to 1971. The series is about how Jed Clampett, a poor farmer living near a swamp, finds oil on his land and suddenly becomes a millionaire when an oil company buys the right to drill for oil on the family’s land. He and the rest of his family decide to move to Beverly Hills. It becomes an unparalleled culture clash between them and the Beverly Hills residents, which forms the basis of the television series and the feature film. Twenty-two years after the television series was canceled, a biopic was made of the popular series. Penelope Spheeris was then commissioned to direct the film based on a script written by Lawrence Konner, Mark Rosenthal, Jim Fischer and Jim Staahl. The film starred Jim Varney, Diedrich Bader, Dabney Coleman, Erika Eleniak, Cloris Leachman, Rob Schneider, Lea Thompson and Lily Tomlin. Dolly Parton, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Buddy Ebsen (the original Jed Clampett) also appeared in minor roles. Erika Eleniak played the role of Elly May, the daughter of Jed Clampett. She is, just like the TV series Elly May, a beautiful and kind girl who is very much an animal-loving tomboy at heart. The film, like the TV series, was panned by many critics in the media. Despite the negative reviews, the film did quite well in theaters and grossed $57 million. Although the film received some criticism for its primarily ridiculous plot (weak script despite four writers), several of the actors, such as Jim Varney and Erika Eleniak, received more appreciation for their comedic performances. Rotten Tomatoes wrote that the film wasted talented actors. Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film a “B ” on a scale of A to F. #thebeverlyhillbilliesmovie #penelopespheeris #erikaeleniak #jimvarney #diedrichbader #clorisleachman #dabneycoleman #leathompson #lilytomlin

Baywatch was an American television series that aired from 1989 to 2001. The series was created by Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz, and Gregory J. Bonann, who produced the show throughout its 11-season run. The first season (1989–90) aired on NBC in the United States and was canceled after only one season. Low ratings and the series’ production company going bankrupt led NBC to lose faith in Baywatch. The series was revived through syndication in the United States and the sale of foreign viewing rights. A few years after its revival the show became the most-watched television series in the world, with a weekly audience of over 1.1 billion viewers despite consistently negative critical reviews, earning it a reputation as a pop cultural phenomenon and frequent source of allusion and parody. The TV show follows a team of lifeguards led by Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) who save lives, deal with personal dramas, fight crime and participate in over the top adventures on a daily basis on a beach in Los Angeles, California (S1-9) and Hawaii (S10-11). The series’ image of a sunny and beautiful California beach filled with young, beautiful people attracted many TV viewers in northern Europe. But in reality, many of the series’ actors experienced a much colder environment, which was also not as well paid. Furthermore, it was certainly inconvenient for the female actors to constantly walk around in swimsuits and fulfill the weight clause in their contracts. @davidhasselhoff @officialerikaeleniak @parkerstevensonofficial @thealexandrapaul @_nicole_eggert @therealdavidchokachi @matthewfelker111 @pamelaanderson

The Opponent (2000) is the directorial debut of Eugene Jarecki, which he also wrote and produced. The film is about Patty (Erika Eleniak) who is hounded and knocked around by her boyfriend Jack (Harry O’Reilly). Patty is spotted and befriended by club fight promoter Fred (John Doman) and one of his round-club gals, June (Aunjanue Ellis). Patty finds that she can confide in June and get into shape care of Tommy (James Colby), who runs a gym with sleazy Fred. Patty begins to learn how to box and gain self-esteem. Tommy takes Patty through a rigorous training program to prepare her for her first professional match. The film’s low budget meant that Erika Eleniak had to do all the boxing scenes without stunt help. In other words, she had to go through what real boxers are subjected to in the ring during competitions. In addition to being Eugene Jarecki’s debut film, The Opponent is his only feature film to date, as his other films are documentaries. Several of his documentaries have been nominated for both Emmy and Grammy Awards. His brothers Andrew and Nicholas are also active in the film industry. The Opponent premiered at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles on October 20, 2000. However, the film was not a great success in theaters when it was released. One reason for this may be that The Opponent was the fourth film that year that was about female boxers. The film ended up in the shadow of, for example, the more successful Girlfight with a similar theme. Another reason may be that it did not receive such good reviews in the press, mainly of Jarecki’s script and direction, when it was released in theaters. #theopponent #eugenejarecki #erikaeleniak #johndoman #aunjauneellis #jamescolby #boxing #2000

Tales from the Crypt is an American horror series that aired on HBO between 1989 and 1996. The series became popular not only in the United States but also in many other countries, which led the film company Universal to decide to make three feature films based on the television series. The 1996 film Bordello of Blood is the second film directed by Gilbert Adler from a screenplay by Adler and A.L. Katz, and a story by Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. The film is about Katherine (Erika Eleniak) who works for a Christian TV show and can be described as piety personified. Her brother Caleb (Corey Feldman), on the other hand, is her exact opposite, a rude jerk who does not refuse life’s more sinful pleasures. When her brother does not come home from his usual bar crawl one day, Katherine begins to suspect that something really bad has happened to him. She therefore hires private detective Rafe Guttman (Dennis Miller) who soon finds out that it’s not just Caleb who has disappeared lately. The trail of the missing leads to a funeral home that hides a glamorous brothel, run by Lilith (Angie Everhart). Filming took place in Vancouver, Canada between May and July 1995. Originally the movie was supposed to be released in October 1996 on Halloween but Universal didn’t have enough movies slated to be released in the summer so the movie premiered in August 1996. Bordello of Blood grossed $5.6 million, the movies budget was 2.5 million so it wasn’t a success for the studio. Upon release, the film was generally disliked by fans of the TV series, but later it developed a fanbase and is now considered a cult film. The film was panned by many critics in the media when it was released. Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film a grade of ‘D ‘ on a scale of A to F. The movie now has a user rating of 5.4 out of 10 on IMDB based on more than 16,000 votes. Erika Eleniak and Angie Everhart would eventually appear together on the second season of “The Real Gilligan’s Island” in 2005 as competing movie stars. Erika ended up as a winner between the two and would later end up as one of the three finalists of that season. #bordelloofblood #dennismiller #coreyfeldman #erikaeleniak
