Eliza Dushku Instagram – Last week, Boston showed up.

I’m still holding the emotion of what we witnessed at the sold-out In Waves and War screening at Coolidge Theater. This powerful, deeply human doc tells the story of Navy SEALs Marcus Capone, Matty Roberts & DJ Shipley—and their courageous journey beyond the battlefield.

After years of service, they faced internal wars: PTSD, TBI, addiction, suicidal ideation, and a broken system offering only meds. It was Marcus’s wife, Amber, who found psychedelic-assisted therapy—admittedly, in desperation, as a last resort—and ultimately, the path to true healing.

This film honors these heroes’ transformation—and the fierce love of the women and their families who stood beside them.

In Waves and War is more than a film. It’s a movement. A wake-up call. And a vision for a future where deep, transformational healing is possible.

That night, we raised nearly $1M for @homebaseprogram—founded by the Red Sox Foundation & MGH—supporting thousands of veterans, service members & families. I’ve had the honor of serving as a counseling intern there this past year, and it’s changed my life.

We also raised awareness for @vets_solutions, founded by Marcus & Amber, connecting vets with life-saving psychedelic-assisted therapy while we push for overdue legislation.

We lose 40 veterans a day to suicide. We must do better.

Huge thanks to ALL of our sponsors, to our hosts—my husband Peter Palandjian & John Fish—and to our powerhouse committee incl. Linda Henry, John Henry & Tom Werner. Deep gratitude to the brilliant clinicians and Dr.’s from @massgeneral, @brighamandwomens @danafarber & McLean’s hospital ( beyond!) who joined us—and stayed for the Q&A with Marcus & Matty filmmaker Jon Shenk.

It was the most impactful screening I’ve been part of in 25 years in film/TV. The audience was collectively engrossed. Drawn in and absorbing the hope and promise of this field.

As I near graduation with my Master’s in Counseling Psychology next month, I am more certain than ever: This work saves lives.

We are committed and advancing 🙏💪🤍
