🇮🇳 India is now the world’s largest plastic polluter, generating 9.3 million tonnes of plastic waste every year…nearly 20% of the global total.
More than China. More than Indonesia. More than Nigeria.
Here’s why:
♻️ Poor waste systems – 77% of urban waste is dumped untreated.
🔥 Open burning – 5.8M tonnes of plastic are burned yearly, releasing toxic pollutants into the air we breath.
