I woke up today with a little bit of inflammation in my joints and worried my lupus might be flaring, it didn’t help I ate chocolate last night! But I’ve made a promise to myself that I’ll keep moving, even if it’s just a really slow run. I got up and got it done even though I woke up really not wanting to! The amazing thing is I actually did a good time so I’m clearly building my base fitness again just by showing up! And I guess that’s what my point here today is… movement does help the inflammation in diseases like lupus and it can be so painful and a fine line between over doing it and just doing enough, but showing up each week with my lupus under control keeps me building that base level fitness and in turn my overall health! Tonight we’re having a home made gut friendly butternut squash soup to keep down the inflammation (I’ll post the recipe) and I’ll continue to focus on showing up for myself! Also side note.. my @sambird_official came with me today to cheer me on from the sidelines, everytime I saw him it made me go a little faster and couldn’t wipe the smile off my face 😂 he’s my happy place 🥰❤️ #parkrun #livingwithlupus #lupus #autoimmunedisease #autoimmuneexercise #wellness @myaida.app
When I was first diagnosed with lupus, forgetting the incredible chronic pain and all the other things that come with it, the hard part was accepting that life was not going to be the same. From someone that was so active being told I wouldn’t be able to do half the stuff I used to do was heartbreaking! Exercise was my mental heath tool, my happy place and I always felt so strong! I won’t bang on about it but I can’t believe how far I’ve come! It takes a lot of patience and lifestyle changes and medication but it can get easier!! Take this from someone who was stuck on steroids for 8 months when it was only supposed to be 3 max! Also now I’m enjoying my runs and the views and not pushing myself for times and PB’s, I know I’ll never get those again, but who cares I don’t need them! But what I do need is the feeling of just moving, being in nature and getting out there, even if I have to walk some of it! #autoimmunedisease #lupus @myaida.app

Hey guys! On April 6th me and @sambird_official will be running the @londonlandmarkshalf raising money for @guidedogsuk – I’ve done this challenge before but this year is a little different as since then I had the Lupus diagnosis. So I know it’s going to be super difficult for me but the charity means so much to my family. When my mum lost her eyesight 18 years ago, having the support of a guide dog absolutely changed her life and gave her, her independence back. This birthday week has had me on cloud 9 🥰 Last night we stayed @middle_eight_hotel in the Bowie suite ‘Changes’ and as you can see this hotel is absolutely stunning! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! We ate in the hotel at the Italian restaurant and the food was delicious! I had black truffle and porcini mushroom risotto (I would thoroughly recommend it!) And then headed off to see @mjthemusicaluk which was absolutely incredible the cast were just phenomenal! Whenever I get to go to a musical it really brings back a fire in me from my time at theatre school (Italia Conti) and I just can’t wait to get back on stage or screen again soon 🥰 36 is proving to be a very lovely one already 🥰 @sambird_official ❤️
