Side note – this awesome Aussie show – based on the books of Robert G. Barret – is set in the 80s, the decade my parents first came to Australia – before I was born on Noongar land.
Before we shot, I sat with the makers of the show (as I always do) and made Georgie real. Talking about the fact that my mum actually existed in Australia at that time (although she was def not a bookie 😂) and the fact that there was a version of Georgie’s fictionalised late father in the show (who would have arrived in the wave of Anglo Indian migrants in the late 60s) who also existed in my world as a real person.
