Estamos em um momento da história onde os Estados Unidos poderiam aprender muito com o Brasil sobre como lidar com pessoas envolvidas em tentativas de golpe.
Como eu disse no artigo, o Brasil nunca julgou os militares pelo que fizeram durante a ditadura. Eles nunca foram punidos por esses crimes. Bolsonaro foi eleito presidente celebrando esses crimes. Se ele for condenado, será um marco civilizacional para o Brasil. Em um país moldado por golpes, esta poderia ser a primeira vez que alguém é enviado para a prisão por incitar um.

Honored that Jon Lee Anderson wrote about our investigation in ‘Apocalypse in the Tropics’ in the contexts of Bolsonaro’s trial. We are in a moment in history where the United States could learn a lot from Brazil about how to reckon with people involved in coup attempts.
As I said to in the article, Brazil never tried the military for what they did during their dictatorship. They were never punished for those crimes. Bolsonaro was elected President celebrating those crimes. If he is convicted, it will be a civilizational milestone for Brazil. In a country shaped by coups, this could be the first time someone is sent to prison for inciting one.
