Stacey Plaskett Instagram – In honor of Virgin Islands History Month and Women’s History Month, today we present Edith L. Williams, an excellent educator and suffragist in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Ms. Williams was the founder of the Suffragist League on St. Thomas in the 1930’s and was a trailblazer in the pursuit of women’s voting rights in the territory. In December 1935, she became the first woman to apply for voter registration in the Virgin Islands.
