My name is Maya Laing, I’m 18 years old and I’m ready to share my story, now that I am officially out of family court. When I was 15 me and my little brother reported our mother’s abuse, the courts ordered us back to her, and ordered transport agents to take us to forced reunification therapy with our mother, where we had to pretend the abuse never happened. She then moved us from CA to WA, and the judge didn’t allow us to contact our dad or family for 7 months. We escaped ran away, hid for a whole summer on the run and were eventually allowed to return to our dad. We are not the only ones who have been subjected to this type of harm by the courts, there are many others. My mission is to raise awareness around this issue and reform our broken family court system! I demand justice for myself and all the other children being harmed.
