Alisha Gaddis Instagram – Something truly momentous happened for my family this weekend. The school where my dad won his state championships, and ultimately retired from, renamed their field the Bob Gaddis Stadium.
The town held a glorious, heartfelt dedication under the Friday night lights. I often try to explain what it’s like to grow up in a football family, where each week is measured by a win or a loss, but words always fall short. What I do know is this: the real victory is never just the scoreboard. It’s the journey: the work, the dedication, and the person you become along the way. Those are the life lessons. The ones my dad taught.
Every time I see my dad honored in such profound ways, I’m reminded of how deeply he instilled those values in thousands of people. His legacy isn’t just in championships, but in the lives shaped by his guidance, grit, and example. I’m also reminded of my mom, her love and sacrifice that made it all possible. That part always cracks my heart wide open.
