A few weeks back, our AC suddenly gave up. At first, we thought it was a minor issue, but soon it stopped working altogether. For two days, the repair guy tried his best, but nothing worked. Finally, he told us we’d have to replace it. Buying a new AC felt like a heavy expense, but the timing turned out to be on our side.
Right then, the new GST reforms had just come into effect. The GST on ACs was reduced from 28% to 18%, and that made all the difference. Instead of paying ₹42,850, we ended up getting the new unit for ₹39,500 which meant a saving of ₹3,350.
It’s a small story, but when added with many others like it, the collective savings have already crossed over a lakh. And it makes me wonder, where have you personally felt these GST savings the most?
