Funny Story: The reprise of “Falling for Ya” (Teen Beach 2) almost didn’t happen because they didn’t know if I could sing in CheeChee’s voice/accent. They were “unsure if it would work.” But I knew it would. So with ten minutes before pick up (I was filming Pitch Perfect 2 at the time), I grabbed my laptop, shut myself in my hotel bathroom, and sang #ProudMary by #TinaTurner to prove it. Once and acapella (very apropos). And guess what… it worked! 😝 Here, I set that “demo” to bits from the actual musical number we filmed for the movie. Just a little reminder (to myself and anyone who needs it), sometimes… you just gotta show’em 💃🏽
This has been in my drafts FOREVER! 🙀 Somewhere along the way I’ve gotten scared and/or too self-conscious to sing. But I know I still love it because often times, after I set up my mic to record a voiceover gig or audition, I do it. I sing. So this is me, trying to be brave and confident by sharing something that brings me joy. Even if it’s not “pitch perfect.” Enough outside forces are trying to put limitations on us, so let’s stop doing it to ourselves 💖
