Diane Keaton. Oh man, what can I say. I loved her since I was a teenager. Diane’s performance in ANNIE HALL, simply blew my mind. Pure magic. So original, so charming, so profound. And I, along with millions of other young women, became obsessed with Diane’s bold, unique, style. SO many great performances over her incredible career; THE GODFATHER, PARTS 1& 2, REDS, SHOOT THE MOON, THE FIRST WIVES CLUB, SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE, to name just a few. Diane left an indelible mark not only in cinema, but in fashion & architectural design. A singular, gifted human whose talents will exist throughout eternity. My thoughts are with her family.

I was honored to be with a badass delegation from The Creative Coalition to advocate on behalf of saving the National Endowment for the Arts. Since 1965, the NEA has been providing grants to support artists, arts organizations, arts education, & creative innovation to communities both large and small throughout all 50 United States. Unfortunately, the NEA is yet another vital agency whose funding is being threatened by the Trump administration. Fun fact; $1 in arts funding generates up to $9 from the private sector. In other words, in addition to enriching the soul, & bringing pride to otherwise neglected rural or underserved communities, the arts are an economic engine providing a multitude of employment opportunities. I am saddened to hear the passing of the wonderful actor Michael Madsen. Michael’s soulful intensity, raw honesty, & sly humor permeated all of his film performances. RESERVOIR DOGS, THELMA & LOUISE, KILL BILL: VOL.2, & ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, to name a few. It was my great pleasure to work with Michael in the ’90’s on two films, SPECIES & SPECIES 2. I don’t think I’ve giggled as much as I did during the making of those movies. Lots of night shoots, lots of gnarly sets, & lots of chasing a creature designed by the Swiss artist H R Giger. Man, did we have fun. Rest in power Michael. You elevated every film you were in. My thoughts are with his family.

The fashion world has lost a GIANT with the passing of Giorgio Armani. I was fortunate to have worn Mr. Armani’s clothing for various occasions & awards celebrations. My favorite being this hot pink slip dress from the 2004 Golden Globes. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting him, I received a bouquet of flowers, along with a hand written note from the maestro himself the day after the awards show. I still have the note, which of course I’ll always cherish. During his modeling days, my husband Charlie Haugk did many runway shows, and print advertisements for various Armani collections. Charlie remembers Mr. Armani as a lovely man, and an absolute pleasure to work with. Rest in peace Sir. Your elegance will live forever.
