At Torani, we believe that styling is an extension of storytelling, where every element contributes to the narrative. Rather than sourcing generic accessories, we meticulously crafted bespoke pieces that intertwine traditional artistry with our unique aesthetic. Our custom Parandis, inspired by the South Indian Jada Billai , were hand-embroidered to echo the opulence of bejeweled braids. Similarly, the Tahia, the traditional crown of Odissi dancers , was reimagined using our signature fabrics and motifs. These handcrafted adornments, featuring motifs like the heart (dil), betel leaf (paan), and bird (chidi), embellished with pearls, Swarovski crystals, sequins, and zardozi, not only complemented our garments but also celebrated the depth and richness of handcrafted traditions. Pictured here are Raja Kumari and Koko Baluchi, embodying this harmonious blend of heritage and contemporary design. A celebration without flowers in India is like a Diwali night without diyas—hollow, incomplete, waiting for something to bloom. Flowers are not just decoration here; they are devotion, memory, offering, and joy. They appear in births and farewells, in temples and kitchens, in exiles and homecomings. They rest on foreheads, on thresholds, on altars and plates. And above all, they unite us—because while we draw borders, nature never does. A flower doesn’t choose who it blossoms for. With Juloos, we celebrated this quiet rebellion of beauty through three festivals rooted in florals. Phoolwalon ki Sair, the heart of old Delhi, where Hindu and Muslim florists come together in a centuries-old tradition of harmony, offering floral chadars at both the dargah and temple. Kaaraga, a powerful Tamil celebration of feminine energy and floral devotion, where women carry flower-adorned idols in trance-like processions. And Thrissur Pooram, Kerala’s grand festival of celestial pageantry, where flowers rain down from atop golden elephants under temple skies. Three regions. One thread. A garland of unity. Because in the language of petals, every prayer is understood. The Word. invited eight tastemakers to celebrate Christian Louboutin’s India-exclusive capsule—‘La Vie en Inde’, a love letter to the country’s centuries-old relationship with jewellery, colour, and craftsmanship. Drawing on the luminous tones of the Navratna, or nine precious gemstones, and Monsieur Louboutin’s longstanding relationship with India, each stone’s aura is translated into lacquered reds, emerald greens, deep sapphires, and luminous golds across sculptural stilettos, jewel-bright sneakers, and the Maison’s iconic Paloma bags. The collection feels celebratory and is heritage refracted through a global lens. For this special editorial photo essay, The Word. spoke with creatives from across fields—cinema, music, art, photography, and design—about style, celebration, inspiration, and the joie de vivre…an ode to the festivities and how each one of them makes it their own.
