Rose Williams Instagram – this week I attended a special screening of the groundbreaking soul-shaking @palestine36film hosted by @britainowespalestine . @britainowespalestine ‘s campaign is working to urge the British Government to formally acknowledge Britain’s role in the ongoing suffering in Palestine, issue a sincere apology and provide meaningful reparations to the Palestinian people. Britain unlawfully acted as an occupying power following the Balfour declaration in 1917, Palestinians were subject to a widespread pattern of murder, torture and persecution under British rule from 1917-1948 – three decades of systemic breaches of the international law standards that applied at the time including repeated war crimes. Britain played a central role in the 1948 partition, shaping and enabling the divisions of today. Brits !
