I believe trans kids are being treated as collateral damage in a propaganda war occurring in an age of unprecedented and purposeful disinformation. It is aimed at stripping us of our empathy and distracting us from the real political violences taking place in the United States and abroad. I felt compelled to write this piece to offer another perspective to folks, especially those raising young children, in hopes of opening eyes (and hearts) to the suffering trans kids and the trans community as a whole are being made to endure.
I hope this essay offers a more nuanced and personal entry point into this discussion that is often reduced to fearmongering falsehoods.
