not the artistic genius L word chart😩 this is your sign that if women were breaking every societal norm to create groundbreaking art in THE EARLY 1900s there is no excuse for you🙄 but one of the things that inspired me to do an artist residency in France SPECIFICALLY was the ‘brilliant exiles’ exhibit in the @smithsonian. it focused on the art of queer women, WOC, feminists, etc. who went to France in the early 1900s due to America’s oppressive ideologies (✨sounds familiar✨). but the art they created and the impact it has had on culture is INSANE from creating new methods of dance, painting, sculpture, to the effect it had on the curation of art itself like the @guggenheim. it was truly revolutionary to have these groups of women meeting up to support each other personally and as artists when most of what they were doing was ILLEGAL, hello?!!! AND all of the love affairs between them? I was so confused going through the exhibit bc I was like wait I thought these two people were together and turns out there was so much crossover as they all dated each other and created art of each other😭 anyways that’s part of why I’m in France!
in case you’re wondering what got me into an artist residency in a French castle – I write feminine rage literature and create feminine rage films centered on powerful, unhinged, magical women’s stories (with romance and other pretty things). I’m currently working on my first novel and editing my first short film. But that’s where my suffering goes – into the art! That’s how I rid myself of it and stay happy! And if you’ve ever upset me, yes your time is coming LMAO<3
one thing about me is if I get inspired, IM GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!! honestly, it’s my third day at the residency and now I’m having imposter syndrome so I might cry LMAO but it’s fun! this is exciting😭 and thank you for all the kind words on my last video, I appreciate you!!!!🥹
