Jasika Nicole Instagram – Some folks feel a little self conscious about calling themselves artists, especially in our commodity-obsessed society. Are we writers if we haven’t sold books? Are we potters if we don’t have recognizable brands? Are we artists if we don’t want to sell the things we create? Thankfully as I get older, I learn to give myself permission to define my own principles. I’m an artist because I love beauty, and I make sure my environment reflects that. It’s on my walls, in my friends homes, on my body. Today the art I’m bringing into the world is hundreds upon hundreds of knitted stitches in the color of *golden afternoon sunlight* and a pair of gorgeously fitted (and surprisingly comfortable!) jeans that celebrate my butt in a way that RTW brands could only dream of. What a gift this is- we must not take it for granted. Happy sewing ❤️
