Shutdown-related staffing shortages are creating backed up TSA lines that are stretching 3 hours at Bush Airport in Houston. Many people are missing their flights, and only two out of the five terminals are open. Wait times are also estimated to be over one hour at Houston’s Hobby airport. Wait times are only expected to get worse as the shutdown continues and air traffic controllers keep working without pay.
The Director of Aviation for Houston Airports released a statement thanking passengers for their patience and flexibility during the shutdown. He also assured the public that “Houston Airports is doing everything possible to support our TSA partners and keep passengers moving safely and efficiently” and asked people to keep getting to the airport early/expecting long wait times.
This is a problem affecting airports throughout Texas and the country. A user wrote on X, “I’ve found hell on earth and it is Dallas-Fort Worth airport.”
