Scientists call RFK’s claims about fluoride “junk science”.
They’re sounding the alarm because he is now calling on states to ban fluoride in drinking water and the on CDC to remove the recommendation to add fluoride to drinking water.
RFK, the nation’s top health official, has called fluoride an “industrial waste” and falsely linked it to various health conditions including neurological damage and bone cancer.
FACTS: Fluoride in water is proven to have profound health benefits, including strengthening teeth and reducing cavities by about 25% in children and adults. This has follow on benefits for full body health. The CDC considers it one of the greatest public health achievements of the 20th century.
Dentists and national health organizations say this change would disproportionately impact low-income communities who can’t afford regular dentists visits. Remember, the federal government does not mandate fluoridation or control local water systems. That is controlled by the states.
