To me, Parker Posey has been the coolest girl in town since I discovered the indie section at Blockbuster on Amsterdam avenue in ‘95. She is one of my favorite story tellers and steals every movie (and no doubt play) she’s ever been in. She can’t help it! Not surprisingly, her book is as original and captivating as her performances are. Boop! X
We are so excited to release the first new music from Vanessa in over 5 years. “Animal” is the first single off of her upcoming album Veils, which will come out in early 2026. This is a little insight from Vanessa about what “Animal” means to her: “The song is about stoicism. The idea of knowing we cannot control external forces; she is being hunted and she accepts the reality of what is happening. The acceptance allows her to truly see the animal. Does she even identify with this creature? Every human has an animal within them. Are you hunting? Are you being hunted? Who is the animal?” Listen to the song at the link in bio.
I had such a blast writing the score for @missjuliastiles new movie Wish You Were Here with @johnjmccauley of @deertickmusic, engineered by the fabulous Dennis Ryan! I have known Julia since biology class (‘98 PCS alums holla.) It has been a joy to watch her captivate the world with her different talents…this time it’s directing and she is exquisite. Vanessa is in for a busy month of July with four newly added summer shows! Starting on July 12th, she’ll perform a full band show for the Sundown Summer Concert Series at Anchorage Town Square Park in Alaska followed by duo shows at @citywinerybos on July 26th & 27th and @nantucketdreamland on July 28th. GO TO YOUR SHEEP! Look at bobble head Vanessa trying to learn how to direct things amongst a dog and some sheep! What’s so interesting to me is that you must tend to the sheep, NOT the dog and THAT’S how you direct the dog. I’m learning!!! So yeah, we had a lot of time this year to work with our young mini Aussie Shepherd, Sinatra. Huge thanks to our trainer for teaching us how to train our dog. Terri L. Florentino is a Canine Behavioral Instructor and I can’t recommend her more. Look her up.
