Brooke Boney Instagram – I’m graduating today with my classmates from @blavatnikschool and @stantonyscollege in a ceremony that’s barely changed since 1669. If you’d told the girl leaving Muswellbrook High with a half-finished HSC that she’d end up here, she wouldn’t have believed you for a second.
This year has stretched me, humbled me and introduced me to friends I’ll love for the rest of my life. I’ve been tested in ways I didn’t see coming and found parts of myself I didn’t know were there.
Standing here I keep thinking about how Oxford has survived almost a thousand years of change and turbulence throughout history, holding tight to the idea that learning matters above everything else. And yet that timeline is tiny next to my Gamilaroi heritage… tens of thousands of years of dancing, teaching, caring, and surviving on Country.
