Connie Britton Instagram – A big break comes around once in a lifetime. For me it was the film, The Brothers McMullen, which came out in 1995 and won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance that year (thank you again, Robert Redford). This funny, honest, slice of life movie by the unknown filmmaker, Eddie Burns, was shot at his family’s house on Long Island, whenever he could afford film stock, over 8 months, on weekends.
And now, 30 years later, The Family McMullen is back! There is nothing quite like being able to return to your roots, with the same gratitude and joy as the first time around, when we were just doing it for the love of storytelling. And now this film carries that same love: for storytelling, family, and life well lived. And I am left as grateful to my dear friend and brother for life, Eddie Burns, as I was over 30 years ago.
