The sudden loss of my mother has hit me with a grief I have never known before and I’ve known a lot of grief. My mom had lived in Venice for over 30 years…She loved the beach, the people, the walk streets, the community and the history to name a few. She fought for underserved communities and people, for the protection of nature, for history to be upheld and respected, for all individuals to be heard, seen and appreciated for standing up for what’s right. I can’t quite understand how she’s not here anymore. I can feel her spirit all around me and in all the shaking voices and messages of her friends who she touched and loved. We had plans, we had so many more conversations to have, we had so much life to still live together. It’s only been 3 days and I miss her so much already. One of her favorite places was the beach, so we went there. Take a moment to listen to the serenity of the waves and watch the tide come in and out, take a deep breath and remember to be thankful for the time you have with the ones you love, use it wisely. Always remember to say I love you. Rest in Peace Mom, you deserve it, as your friends have said “you earned your wings.” I love you so very much.
Today marks the first Easter without an Easter Egg hunt for my family in 17 years! So that happened and it was perfectly fine, as time continues to be truly fascinating, one tradition is replaced with another. Touring colleges on the East coast was something I never did, so it was just as eye opening to me as it was for our daughter. What a time to be in #NYC – Spring has sprung! #grateful #happyeaster

This has been one of the most emotionally charged weeks of my life. I was going to cancel speaking at this event, but when I stopped and listened, I realized my mom would’ve been mad if I did. This was my moment to give a voice to the voiceless, which is everything she stood for. ❤️🩹❤️Thank you @thewrap @wrapwomen and #powerwomensummit2025 @sharonwaxman @madelinedinonno @geenadavisorg @starz and my BFF and writing partner, podcast co-host and more @welcometoheidi for helping me have the strength to #takethelead on representing OUR stories that are missing from TV and Film! This is how The Midlife Collective was born—three women working on separate midlife projects who realized: Why are we doing this alone? Constance felt blindsided by midlife and menopause. She envisioned a theater piece that could break the silence around this transition. Abby, who’s spent her career helming groundbreaking stories of women’s reclamation, joined her to launch @midlifemonologues and build a creative community around it. Julie had a parallel experience—feeling unprepared and angry that no one had warned her—which drove her to interview hundreds of women about their unspoken midlife truths. When they discovered each other, the answer was obvious: join forces. Because midlife isn’t something to fear—it’s a fucking privilege. And the only way to shift the narrative is to do it collectively. We’re building a platform for everything—documentaries, podcasts, live events, storytelling activations—all designed to amplify YOUR voices. This isn’t about talking at women. It’s about listening to women. Different cultures. Different communities. Different stories. All centered, all celebrated. This is just the beginning. What do you want to know about midlife? 👇 Co-Founders: @abbyepsteinxoxo @Julieflakstad @ConstanceZimmer #TheMidlifeCollective #Meetmeinthemidlife #HerSecondAct #MeetTheFounders #MidlifeMovement #WomenOver40 #GenXWomen #MidlifeTruth #CollectiveRising #ThisIsOurTime

“My edible just kicked in” — and that’s how you KNOW you’re in for one hell of a conversation. Our beloved friend @rickilake got brutally honest with us about love, loss, and yes — plastic surgery. You know her as Tracy Turnblad from “Hairspray.” You know her as the youngest talk show host in history at 24, who went on to change daytime television forever and win an Emmy. You know her as the fearless filmmaker behind “The Business of Being Born” — the documentary that literally changed how women across America give birth. But it’s in her fifties that we’re falling in love with Ricki all over again. Not just for her legendary career, but for her honesty, her vulnerability, and her zero-fucks-given attitude about what really matters. After losing everything in the Palisades fire, she’s shown us what true resilience looks like — literally rebuilding her life from the ashes and reminding us all that women never stop reinventing themselves. Real talk about aging, beauty standards, grief, and why transparency is her superpower. Listen to the episode now — link in bio! #TalkFiftyToMe #RickiLake #WomenOver50 #talkfiftytomepodcast #byenow
