Jen Gunter Instagram – On Friday, Dr. Oz, who never met a medical scam he couldn’t promote for profit finally said the quiet part out loud when he was sworn in as the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services:
It is your patriotic duty, I’ll say it again, the patriotic duty of all Americans to take care of themselves because it is important for serving in the military, but it is also important because healthy people don’t consume health care resources.
And
The best way to reduce drug spending is to use less drugs ’cause you don’t need them, ’cause you’re healthy. And it feels a lot better, as well.
This is a page right out of fascism. It is othering people and creating a mythical past when we were all healthy. There are so many parallels between fascism and wellness, so I was not surprised at all with Oz’s choice of words.
I wrote a long piece about this on The Vajenda. It’s cruel and very concerning. The water is boiling and we are in the pot.
There are so many ways Medicare and Medicaid can be restricted and used to further weaken medical care. It’s really frightening.
