Lucy Dacus Instagram – The Archives are out now and I hope you like it. I didn’t really realize what it meant to me until it came out late last night. I know people can sometimes think companion pieces are an afterthought, but I’ve been thinking about this for as long as I’ve been thinking about Forever Is A Feeling. It was a place to put ideas over the years, to keep the door open on these songs, which is not a mentality or experience I’ve had making an album before. It was nice, feeling like I had a second chance or another turn in my pocket. Now it feels like my turn is over and everything is on the table. I thought about naming this Forever Is Over because that’s how it feels. Not like I’m fully disappearing, there are still some shows to do, but I get to start thinking about anything else, about making something from nothing again.
I’m really proud of what me and my team and my band have done this year. I got to see some of my oldest ideas become reality. I had a lot of fun around the world with people I love, and with ~you~. All of you, no matter how many there are, add up to one dear friend of mine, and I try not to take you for granted.
