Happy #InternationalDayOfDisabledPersons…to all those who celebrate. Everything is, by all accounts, still pretty fucked….but at least we have each other 🤷🏼♀️. Stay angry. We’ll get there one day. In the meantime, don’t let the bastards get you down. Love. Ps. These headlines are just the tip of the iceberg.

What JUST happened……😳…I just won Women in Film & TV’s “The BBC News & Factual Award”. The award recognised my work as a presenter in current affairs, in particular our incredible documentary “Fight To Fly” which I presented (and co-produced) with my powerhouse pal Sarah Lazenby (for Channel 4). Accepting this award was terrifying; the calibre of women in the room was just so overwhelming, and to have been given the award by the one and only @sjdooley was a pinch-me moment. Looking on were so many of my heroes, ngl, I bottled the speech (imo). Anyway, the point is, the award means the world. I’ve worked so, so hard to get where I am, and, as a disabled woman, it’s not been straightforward by any stretch, and at times I’ve wanted to give up, so, honestly, the recognition has given me such a boost to keep going. To all the women who have helped me along the way and to those who judged my work and deemed me worthy – I cannot express the depths of my gratitude. Thank you. @wftv_uk THANK YOU. @lazers77 My girl, my hero. We all need one of you. @lucykilner @mcsaatchisocial Love you women in my corner so much. Your graft, support and friendship are beyond appreciated. Onwards!! @janemingay @georginaa_smith @louisa_compton @allycastle @hellosunshine and all the others behind and involved in Fight To Fly – ♥️🙌🏻 “Current affairs is where we tell the truth — especially the uncomfortable ones. It’s where we shine a light into dark places. And as a paraplegic, I know what it feels like to live in that darkness. To be overlooked, mistreated, ignored and unseen…. So to be sitting right here today, holding this award, having done the work I’ve done and with the people I have done it with, the privilege is not lost on me! I won’t mistake this moment for progress achieved, but fuel for the progress still needing to be made…both on screen and everywhere – let’s go!!!” Dress @nadinemerabi ✨
