💥 SHE IS FINALLY HERE – everyone, meet “Sophie”…!!!! After over 15 years of dreaming about this idea, I am so excited to finally see a dream come true – meet “Sophie”, the first ever seated female mannequin and manual wheelchair designed to represent us on the high street!!!! Developed over the past year in collaboration with @primark, as of YESTERDAY, she is now in over 20 Primark flagship stores across three major markets, including the UK, Europe and the US. She is more than a mannequin, she is a milestone and a message: Disabled bodies deserve to be represented in retail…and everywhere. I am so grateful to have been involved at every step of the process and have done my best to ensure that she is authentic and accurate. For example, she has more defined upper-body strength, slightly atrophied legs, and many MANY other thoughtful touches to ensure that she’s based on lived experience…”Sophie” and her chair are one of a kind!!! And even better, we developed a style guide for her as she needs to be dressed and styled just right!! So please look to her for inspiration and guidance on what might look great on you, if you, like me, live your life from a seated position!! Words don’t express the feeling I have right now, that this dream has finally come true. Seeing her in the shops is just WILD. My most heartfelt and profound thanks go out to the incredible team at @primark – the one and only Amanda Britton (@amandabrittonart), the most extraordinary Charlie Magadah-Williams (@cheerfulmoi), the incomparable Shani (@shanidhanda), and the ever-supportive @idw_manufacturing….especially the only man in this industry who ever believed in me, Bob, (@bob.volpe ) and to everyone who helped bring this vision to life. I dedicate this to the younger me who so desperately wanted to be “seen”. You finally did it. @bellepr_ @mcsaatchitalent 📸@reecesiberini #TheSophieMannequin #DisabilityRepresentation #AdaptiveFashion #InclusiveRetail #MakingSpace #PrimarkAdaptive #SeatedMannequin #FashionForAll #RepresentationMatters

This is FREEDOM! This week, as part of a film I hosted for @visitcalifornia, I was introduced to this extraordinary invention: FreedomTrax (@freedomtrax) Please have a scroll through these images and videos. The FreedomTrax is a manual wheelchair accessory designed to enhance outdoor access accessibility. It’s a battery operated device controlled by a joystick, enabling manual wheelchairs to navigate sand, hiking trails… And even snow! Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen. This was my FIRST EVER time on a California beach. It was incredibly emotional. In Nature Track’s words “we are in the business of making people happy”. Honestly, I can attest, they REALLY are. If you want to know more about them please contact Sue (last slide) at @naturetrack_ (if you are in the USA) .They are based in Santa Barbara (but @freedomtrax have a global presence) and best of @naturetrack_ loan them to users ….for FREE. [email protected][email protected] If you want to buy one they cost $6.5k but you can RENT them from @naturetrack_ for nothing. It is available to anyone who uses a wheelchair or requires assistance accessing outdoor spaces. If you don’t have a manual wheelchair NatureTrack can lend you one (I assume, USA only – please contact them to find out). #NatureTracks #FreedomTracks #Wheelchair #Beach #Wheelchair #AdaptiveEquipment #BeachLife #California #AdaptiveFreedom THIS IS NOT AN AD. I AM NOT PAID FOR THIS POST. I AM NOT AFFILIATED TO THIS PRODUCT OR COMPANY.

“Beyond Before – a life-changing injury sets a defiant woman (that’s me) on a mission to change the world’s perception of disability” A short film with @redbull made by Kaylen Kaylen Ng (@kaylen.ng) Redbull are supporters of the Wings For Life Foundation and this weekend the Wings for Life World Run is happening. All the funds raised by this global event go towards finding a cure for spinal cord injury. Which blows my mind. When I was first injured there was no hope for a cure. Now, thanks to Wings for Life, that’s not the case. It’s shocking to think that if my injury had happened today there’s a chance the outcome would have been entirely different. If you want to watch the race tune in tomorrow on RedBull TV or online at wingsforlifeworldrun.com (you will hear me commentating) Find out more @wingsforlifeworldrun and @wingsforlife. Good luck to all those participating – and on behalf of those of us with SCI or those of us not-yet SCI owners – thank you. #WorldRun #WingsForLife #WorldRunWingsForLife #RedBull##Disabled #Paralyse #Fundraiser #Charity
Paradise, but make it inclusive. What if your dream holiday didn’t just look like paradise—but felt like it, too, for everyone? From beach wheelchairs to adaptive scuba diving, @AmillaResort in the Maldives is blazing a trail for accessible travel. Whether it’s a honeymoon, a family getaway, or a White Lotus-style trip with friends, this stunning resort proves that luxury and inclusion can (and must) go hand in hand. I had the privilege of writing a feature and reviewing Amilla for @TelegraphTravel, and I’m thrilled to share why it scored a near-perfect 9/10 in my book. Read my full review via the link in bio. 📧 Interested in booking? The concept of a “cure” is a complicated one for people with disabilities. Many of us hate the word, as it reinforces the outdated and harmful notion that we all want to be ‘fixed’ when really, what we (also) want is the world around us to be fixed. Living with an injury however, one that devastates your ability to connect with your body and leaves you dependent on mobility devices (that are often too expensive or limited in their function), makes for a challenging life, one that some of us would rather not have to sustain should we have the choice. Which currently, we don’t. For the last twenty years I have been reconciling the fact that my complete spinal injury would never be changed….and I’ve honestly made peace with it… but this visit to a spinal research lab in LA last summer made me realise that my outcome, and so many others either living with paralysis caused by SCI, may one day change. The research is funded by Wings For Life, a charity for whom I’m now an Ambassador. They say that it is now no longer a matter of if…but when. The only barrier we need to overcome is raising the funds to get this, and other research into clinical trials. Today, the WFL World Run is happening. A global fundraiser. The impact this event has is seismic. Head to @wflworldrun or @wingsforlife to find out more, to watch and, if possible, donate. And please spread this video to give those who long for a choice over their circumstances, hope. @brandonpeters @wingsforlife @mikemac @redbull @wingsforlifeworldrun #SpinalCordInjury #Paralysis #WingsForLife #TheWorldRun #MedicalCure #SpinalResearch #SpinalCordInjuryResearch
I am not gonna get over this for a while. Writing, as a dyslexic gal, doesn’t come easy to me (TF for @grammarly) but I love it so so much, especially when I think it helps me make an impact on the world. I’ve now written for a wide range of publications, from Conde Nast Traveller (this month’s column is coming soon), Wanderlust (out now), The Times, The Telegraph, Forbes, Stylist, Business Insider, The Indie, and more and it brings me so much joy. Accessible and inclusive travel is my favourite subject and always will be and my goal with everything I write is to normalise, educate and shift perceptions of what a disabled traveller/person looks like and we can do. Winning this award is extremely meaningful for me and a boost of confidence to keep writing and keep learning as I go. Thanks to all the editors who tidied me up and put me right – I owe you….and thanks @travmedia, for this recognition. Can’t wait for my next adventure ….🦁. #TravelWriter #TravMedia #Speaker #PublicSpeaker #TravelWriter #InclusiveTravel #AccessibleTravel #DisabledTraveller #Paraplegic #WheelchairUser #ConusTraveller #Wanderlust #WallaceMagazine #WallaceTravel #Adventure#adventure.com #TheTimes #TheTelegraph #Writing #TravelWriting
