Bojana Novakovi? Instagram – The Forbidden Aunt, a documentary I made, is going to be at @sarajevofilmfestival as part of Cinelink! đ This is such an enormous thrill for our whole team â we worked on this tiny, all-heart doc for over a decade, with next to no money and all the love.
In light of recent events in Serbia I hope this film helps shed much-needed light on the devastating effects of normalizing violence against women. This isnât just a âwomenâs issue.â A society that allows violence against women is a violent society, period. And it needs to be dismantled â loudly, completely, and yesterday.
The women in my family lived with this reality for half a century and still show up with resilience, laughter, and an unkillable sense of humor that defies it all. This film is for them.
