As many of you know I am obsessed with Mermaids 🧜♀️ and have been since I was very little. The story sparked such an outrage in me , such an enormous sense of grief at the injustice of it all ( remember she gave up her voice and swopped her tail for feet that felt like walking on knives) . I believe I’ll meet a mermaid some day and I’m deeply (sorry 😊) at home near the sea, I find it comforting, inspiring, challenging, sometimes frightening… but always MASSIVELY ALIVE. This song came about from wondering if I could leave a sound in it somehow, that Kieran could hear if I wasn’t around , if I could be part of the Sea, if the Sea could really sing us .”whisper secrets from the other side, carry you with me, your Ocean bride”.
