Viva Bianca Instagram – If you’re like me and have been energetically farewelling the Year of the Snake 🐍 while side-eyeing the Year of the Horse 🐎 like, “pls don’t make me gallop yet” — here’s a thought.
I learned yesterday about the alchemy of limbo.
The good news? January is basically its spiritual headquarters.
We don’t actually need to slam the door on last year and sprint into resolutions overnight. This month is more of a pause-and-integrate moment. A soft launch. A deep breath. A chance to ask:
Is there any leftover dead skin that still needs shedding?
Sometimes that looks metaphorical.
Sometimes it’s just… finally cleaning out a cupboard.
Limbo isn’t failure. It’s preparation.
Before the momentum of the horse kicks in (and it will), this is the moment to take stock, clear space, clean out cupboards and donate old clothes and kids toys and books, journal, reorganise, tidy your desktop, open the windows and let the house — and your nervous system — breathe.
So if the new year feels weirdly unremarkable so far…
If you feel behind…
If you feel like everyone else has “launched” and you’re still in trackies…
You’re not late.
You’re in limbo.
And limbo might actually be necessary.
For me, limbo looks like:
– organising my desk
– buying stationery I absolutely didn’t need but deeply wanted, plus a monthly organiser I’m finally grown up enough to have
– clearing my digital and literal clutter
– selling some clothes, donating others
– doing less, better (a concept I am still emotionally adjusting to)
A question I’m sitting with instead of resolutions is:
What part of my identity is no longer serving me?
For me? Rushing. Running late. Draining myself for no reason.
It probably served me once. It doesn’t anymore.
2025 felt like peeling back layers — some sticky, some heavy, some painful.
Necessary. Transformational. Exhausting.
And now?
I feel like I’m on the picket line of 2026.
Ready to gallop — but not in dead skin. That’s itchy and unsustainable.
So first: the pause.
Then: the momentum.
What does limbo look like for you?
