Alice Dixson Instagram – Self restraint anyone?
This is my face when…
just the other day at the airport, a young lady approached me as I was sitting down outside getting some air.
She asked me are you OK?
I said yes thank you.
I thought wow what a decent human being. Then she went on to ask, are you Alice Dixson? Can I have a picture?
Curious, I asked “ did you ask me if I was OK because you wanted a picture or because you really wanted to know if I was OK?”
She was honest and said because I wanted a picture. So I told her next time if you want a picture, just ask for one, you don’t need to have to express false sincerity or concern.
I didn’t mean to scare her, but she went away embarrassed perhaps.
these are the times ask myself- why can’t I practice more self restraint.
There are moments where we could have responded better… and an even better moments where we don’t.
Choosing self-restraint isn’t easy, but it saves energy, peace, and regret.
