Tammin Sursok Instagram – As most of you know I posted this in my stories yesterday. I was flooded by so many messages about how you were dealing with your disordered thoughts and learning to be in balance – and sometimes that looks like eating fries in the parking lot. I wrote a very detailed @substack (linked in my bio and in stories) * trigger warning * I write about my own eating issues and share things I haven’t ever before.

I’ll share an excerpt below but the whole article is on substack. (It’s free 💕)

I was sitting in my car — sweaty from a workout, very premenstrual — when the golden arches came into view. My body craved salt. Without hesitation, I pulled into the McDonald’s drive-thru and ordered a large fries with extra salt.
As I reached into the bag and popped that first hot, crispy fry into my mouth, a smile spread across my face.
The same girl who once blacked out from fear of food was now enjoying her French fries, with no guilt. No shame. No horror.
In that moment, I decided to share what I was feeling. Because sometimes healing looks like eating the “forbidden” food that once held you hostage — alone, in a parking lot, feeling both messy and joyful.
I braced myself for the comments.
Did they come? Yes.
Was I surprised? No.
It’s easy to judge someone else’s choices without curiosity. It’s easy to sit in the circle of hypocrisy, pointing fingers, rather than shining a light on your own unhealthy behaviors.
But here’s the thing: eating McDonald’s French fries was the healthiest thing for me that day. Pretending I don’t still carry the echoes of food-related pain — pretending I’m not still untangling those knots — would be a betrayal of my recovery.
So if you’re someone who spends too much time trapped in your own head, terrified of stepping outside the polished, toxic bubble of “perfect health ,” maybe it’s worth asking yourself why.
Because in the end — it’s never really about the French fries, is it……
