When I spoke with Paul Kidwell about caring for his wife, he shared the heavy mental load caregivers carry – from the emotional strain of watching a loved one decline to the constant need to stay present and informed.
 
Paul told me that while caregiving can feel invisible, showing up for the person you love is what matters most. His honesty about the burnout, fear, and moments of grace in this journey is something every caregiver can relate to.
 
Since our interview, Paul’s beloved wife, Aibai, has passed away. As we honor National Family Caregivers Month this November, conversations like these remind us that behind every patient is a caregiver whose strength often goes unseen. I’m so grateful to Paul for sharing his story and his heart.
