Erin Barnett Instagram – It has been 2 months since Cookie had her spinal surgery and what a journey it has been. Giving her the tablets she was prescribed was honestly impossible. She would spit them out or vomit and I tried every trick in the book. She only tolerated them for about a week.
After that, I focused on what I could do. I gave her @emuspirit Emu Oil, did her daily physio exercises, kept her crate bound for 2 weeks, and helped her walk to wee and poo with a harness around her lower abdomen.
When we went back to the neurologist for her post op checkup, they were shocked at how well she was recovering. I still get scared it could happen again to her or even my other two dachshunds, but I am trying to stay positive.
