Kerry Washington Instagram – Receiving the Courage Award from the Womens Cancer Research Fund means so much to me… but as I said in my speech last night: I do not deserve it! If there is anyone I know who is an example of courage in the face of cancer, it is my brave and bad*ss cancer surviving mother.
When cancer first entered her life 24 years ago, she faced it with a strength, grace, and determination. Every single day, her fight continues to teach me what courage really looks like.
So I accept this award with deep gratitude… but only because I dedicate it to Valerie Washington. The night belonged to her!
