Ahhhh Inktober tomorrow and I’m not ready! 😲
#fbf to last year when I did this for #inktober.
I’ll try my best to do Inktober again this year but I’ll probably be using watercolor and other coloured medium, not only ink 😝.
Anyone else planning on joining?
(Basically Inktober is just drawing something in ink every day and posting it, though, uh….I totally use other stuff too…lol. I got a bottle of coloured ink this year though and I’ll see how much I like that)

A little late but I was super busy and I really wanted to do this edit xD~ edited something I drew earlier this year 😁~
Using Usagi here is twofold: she’s the moon, and the rabbit, and traditionally in the moon festival’s fable, the moon has rabbits and a beautiful woman. So, she fits all the bills, yay! 🐇

I love full moons. well, I like anything night and sky related but I do love moons cause my Chinese name character has something to do with moon
青=主 月, or translated literally: Qing=master moon💁🏻✨✨
青 is literally translated to a sort of a blue/green/turquoise colour (my fav these few years…coincidentally I swear). It’s not even that 青 could be interpreted as master/moon, but that I was named with the intention of that 😆~ (totally fancied myself sailor moon when I was a kid, cause, cmon. Master over the moon? That was sailor moon and me! 😂👌)

Michiyo Yasuda, who was an animator and color designer at studio Ghibli, passed away. I knew her mainly because she was one of the few more important women figures in a male dominated field of Japanese animation. The ghibli films she contributed to starts at Castle in the Sky (1986) up to the Wind Rises (2013). I remember seeing a video of the making of princess Mononoke where she and Miyazaki went over colour choices for the characters, and everything had to be just the right shade and hue (I think there are videos on YouTube of that). May she rest in peace.

An idea I had around last year trying to cope with my heart surgery that left me with a huge, nasty-looking scar. A lot of you guys probably already know about this, I think I talk about it a lot…a little too much sometimes perhaps, sorry.
Some of you guys have DM’d me about this, asking about how or why I got my surgeries, so…

Last year I was diagnosed with Mitral Stenosis, where my mitral heart valve was too small and wasn’t opening and closing properly, causing the blood in my left heart chamber to regurgitate back into my lungs because the opening was too small to let enough blood to flow to the next chamber. I was having a lot of trouble breathing every time I walked at that time.
So sometime around this time last year, I had my first heart surgery. Of course, I had 2 more within the next two months (my mechanical valve fell off due to complications that’ll take too long to explain), after which I felt completely just numb.
Though at this point, I was trying to come to terms with the fact that I have a ~20cm long (9inches) scar on my chest. It was really quite… disheartening, to say the least, to have such a large and scary looking scar that looks so angry red and bumpy.
I started drawing these girls with things coming out of a rip in their chest to kind of cope with it, really, but now I’m starting to like this concept. I’ve seen people physically flinch or cringe a little when they see my scar, but I’m dealing with it slowly. I guess the worse thing is the meds I’ll have to be on for the rest of my life to regulate my blood clotting rates and the fact that it’s probably extremely dangerous for me to have a child (for both me and the child).
So yeah. That’s all. I still kind of feel uncomfortable when I see hospital wards but it’s getting better cause I’m not breaking out in cold sweats when I watch hospital scenes on tv anymore so yay!!

Started the sketch so long ago hahaha…so tired. Subtle perspective is so hard; it’s so easy to accidentally go too far either way. so much harder than hyper-perspective for me xD~
I got switched to a really busy show again so now I’m sobbing a little. no time to draw anymore…also, super tired and I have allergy hives all over still haha 😵😷. I had to start wearing makeup cause it would be all over my face sometimes and make me look like a diseased person 😭. Anyways, haha, sorry, gonna go to bed~ gnight guys 😙

So I actually did use gouache paint for some of my daily moleskine planner near the beginning of the challenge (which I failed both years lol).
But I soon gave up cause I was going to bed at around 3-4am every day on top of a full time job. Wasn’t great for my health (this is a running theme 😂). Also it’s very hard to paint on that thin, smooth paper.
So this is an old thing xD

Haha alright, I really tried doing a depth mapping on a coloured drawing (pikachu didn’t work out…I accidentally shut everything off without saving anything..lost all my work 😭)
This was pretty hard. I kind of want to try doing more pro 2d – 3d mapping now, but…haha so time consuming. Also, insta’s video uploads are still really crap quality…
