Samyuktha Menon Instagram – Every sari tells a story. Of the vast beauty of this country and its rich heritage. The sari narrates many tales. Of the region where it’s made. Of the people who make it. Of the stories that inspire them to make it. Of the rituals and traditions its associated with it. The sheer elegance of the six yards transcends many journey from the maker to the wearer.⁣
⁣
Every girl during the growing up years have taken a piece of fabric and draped it as a sari as part of many dress up acts. I too have. Watching my grandmother and mother picking out their fine sarees, the lustrous kanjivarams to the crispy cottons, and dressing up for the festivals, religious outings to the umpteen weddings, every celebratory ocassion deemed they dressed in their finest.⁣
⁣
⁣
Saris tell stories. ⁣
⁣
I am associating with @mahalekshmisilks to tell some of them. ⁣

Samyuktha Menon Instagram – February 4th , noted as World Cancer day. I had the opportunity to address a gathering of Cancer survivors. ‘Fighters’ would be more apt than survivors.
Some women , introduced themselves to me , mentioning they survived it three times , two times. The strength I saw in their eyes was immense . Strength which is permanently embedded in their eyes.
Once they cross that fine line, the days of treatment, the days they fight against it , all they need is emotional support and a loving world. Some of them were worried about losing their hair , losing their charm…. We have to tell them, it doesn’t matter. Your determination to fight makes you charming. The strength you show makes you beautiful.
Is that worry also because of the judgmental world ? Do we need to judge someone? No . No matter what. How they are , how they look doesn’t matter. What’s important is how happily we live our life , how much happiness we spread around us , how much acceptance we show . Live and let live !!
All my wishes to those strong people I met .
Also to Paripoorna , a centre for comprehensive women’s healthcare .
