I had many questions, as always… but you embraced us, as naive young people, with no judgement or expectations. And showed us how to navigate this time with Grace and insight. We spent hours laughing, dreaming, remembering and reliving a journey that began in 1944. The struggle, the failures, the victories and the triumphs of you, Uncle Bob, one of Jamaica’s most prized musicians still to truly be honoured and recognized. We sat and listened earnestly to the pain, the trauma, the lessons of forgiveness and love that inspired your lyrics, in amazement of the humble and modest man that you had become, and still were becoming. Donisha Rita Claire Prendergast Instagram – In the past 10 years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel across the world and research, learn, share and be a part of so many historic moments as a result of @rastaasoulsjourney. Initially, we went to 8 countries to uncover the roots and evolution of RasTafari, this spiritual movement that I grew up seeing and being a part of, without fully overstanding the role that both my grandparents played in spreading the message across the corners of the Earth, which was embraced by so many Nations and Souls in distress, seeking for a deeper truth than what Babylon forced us to believe about ourselves and each other. I’ve met some amazing humans, and ultimately became a vessel to transmit messages beyond this physical plane to empower Right over Might, and forge new models of co-existence for a collective humanity. This documentary journey inevitably helped to define who I have become in the past decade, and what I will leave behind for future ones. It fuelled my Rebel and informed my fire, and Im so happy to be able to share it as the opening film in a 3 week workshop and film series, being hosted by @bobmarleyfoundation, leading up to my grandfather’s 75th Earthday celebration… “ Redemption”.
