So I’m just gonna drop this right here and try to spread this as fast as possible so that everyone knows if suddenly this tech disappears, we know something is up. Congrats! #Repost @globalpositivenews with @make_repost ・・・ A team of researchers at Tulane University School of Medicine have identified two genes – TRAF3IP2 and RAB27a – that play a basic role in the formation, growth and spread (metastasis) of triple negative breast cancer – one of the most aggressive types of breast cancer there is. The researchers in collaboration with clinicians have also discovered that when RAB27a is “turned off”, it stops producing substances that cause tumor formation. The existing tumor is not growing, but can still spread a minimal amount of cancer cells to other parts of the body. When TRAF3IP2 is suppressed, the existing tumors shrink to undetectable levels and there is no spread of tumor cells to the body. The Tulane research efforts have also found that by “turning off” TRAF3IP2, the growth and spread of glioblastoma, a deadly brain cancer, is also prevented. – h/t: Science Daily Photo: National Cancer Institute / Unsplash ••• @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews . . . #caring #heartwarming #positivepsychology #globalpositivenews #news #somegoodnews #tanksgoodnews #Positivenews #positivenergy #positivity #onemillionactsofgood #cancerawareness #cancerfree #breastcancercare #breastcancersupport #breastcancerresearch #breastcancer #cancerresearch #sciencerules #sciencerocks #scienceisreal #scienceiscool #metastasis #metastaticbreastcancer #sciences #scienceisawesome #scientificresearch

#Repost @__nitch with @make_repost ・・・ Anthony Bourdain // “I used to believe that the human race as a whole was basically a few steps above wolves. That given the slightest change in circumstances, we would all, sooner or later, tear each other to shreds. That we were, at root, self-interested, cowardly, envious and potentially dangerous in groups. I have since come to believe…after many meals with many different people in many, many different places…that though there is no shortage of people who would do us harm, we are essentially good. That the world is, in fact, filled with mostly good and decent people who are simply doing the best they can. Everybody, it turns out, is proud of their food (when they have it). They enjoy sharing it with others (if they can). They love their children. They like a good joke… Sitting at the table has allowed me a privileged perspective and access that others, looking principally for ‘the story,’ do not, I believe, always get. People feel free, with a goofy American guy who has expressed interest only in their food and what they do for fun, to tell stories about themselves…to let their guard down, to be and to reveal, on occasion, their truest selves… People, wherever they live, are not statistics. They are not abstractions… I’m not saying that sitting down with people and sharing a plate is the answer to world peace. Not by a long shot. But it can’t hurt.”

#Repost @globalpositivenews with @make_repost ・・・ Earlier this month, around 5:30 a.m., an elderly man saw a woman jump from a pedestrian bridge over the Kenagakawa River in Tokyo. The woman, apparently in her 30s, climbed over the railing and threw herself in an attempt to commit suicide. “Don’t die!” the man yelled while calling the paramedics. It turns out, however, the closest building to that bridge is the Sakaigawa Stable – a training facility for professional sumo wrestlers. As soon as they heard the screams, about twenty very large men rushed into the river to save the drowning woman. They brought her to the river bank but were soon faced with another problem. When the paramedics arrived and put the woman on a stretcher, the stretcher needed to be lifted to a height of about 2 meters to carry it to the road. It was an easy task for the sumo wrestlers who helped lift the stretcher up and into the waiting ambulance. The woman didn’t have any serious injuries, doctors later commented. – h/t: Sora News 24 Photo: livedoornews / Twitter ••• @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews @globalpositivenews . . . #caring #heartwarming #positivepsychology #globalpositivenews #news #somegoodnews #tanksgoodnews #Positivenews #positivenergy #positivity #onemillionactsofgood #kindness #kindnessmatters #randomactsofkindness #actsofkindness #suicideawareness #suicideprevention #suicidepreventionawareness #lifesaving #savior #sumo #sumowrestler #makingadifference #helpingpeople #helpingothers #amazingpeople

#Repost @historycoolkids with @make_repost ・・・ This is Mildred and Richard Loving. Their marriage and court case would go on to end all laws banning interracial marriage in the United States in 1967. June 12th is Loving Day and today marks its 53rd anniversary. The Lovings’ case was specifically chosen for the Supreme Court, partly because they were so unmistakably in love with each other. Mildred and Richard were poor “regular folks” who just wanted to be left alone but decided to put themselves in the national spotlight in order to put an end to the racial injustice they had experienced simply for loving one another. In 2007, on the 40th anniversary of the Loving decision, Mildred issued the following statement: “Surrounded as I am now by wonderful children and grandchildren, not a day goes by that I don’t think of Richard and our love, our right to marry, and how much it meant to me to have that freedom to marry the person precious to me, even if others thought he was the ‘wrong kind of person’ for me to marry. I believe all Americans, no matter their race, no matter their sex, no matter their sexual orientation, should have that same freedom to marry. Government has no business imposing some people’s religious beliefs over others. Especially if it denies people’s civil rights. I am still not a political person, but I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, black or white, young or old, gay or straight seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.” Photograph credit: Grey Villet, 1965 Source: https://www.theguardian.com/books/gallery/2017/mar/29/the-lovings-in-pictures

The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish… Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate, the unloved and the unnatural… You, the people have the power, the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure… Let us use that power. Let us all unite.”
#Repost @historycoolkids with @make_repost ・・・ Juneteenth marks the freedom of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America in 1865. Although the Emancipation Proclamation formally freed slaves two years earlier, it was not until this day that Texas officially freed its slaves, when Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston. To commemorate this holiday, we’re sharing the story of Nat Love, an African American cowboy who was born enslaved in Tennessee. After gaining freedom, Love left the world he knew and headed West–because “freedom is sweet” and he wanted to “make more” out of his life. Love’s adventure began at 15 years old, when he won a horse at a raffle and then sold the horse back to the owner for $50. As luck would have it, Love won the same horse in another raffle on the same day. He again sold the horse back to the owner for another $50. Half the money went to his mother, and the other half funded his journey. Love’s first stop was Dodge City, Kansas, where he worked as a cowboy. During this time, Love became an expert marksman, a handy skill to have on the American frontier, particularly during scuffles with cattle rustlers. He was also said to have been ambushed by an Indigenous tribe who was so impressed by his bravery they spared him his life. The chief even offered him 100 ponies to marry his daughter and become part of the tribe, however, Love refused. After about a month in captivity, he managed to escape by riding away on their best horse. In 1889, Love retired from being a cowboy to settle down and marry his sweetheart Alice Love. He later went on to publish his autobiography entitled “Life & Adventures of Nat Love”, which helped boost his legacy as one of the most famous heroes of the Old West.
