Regina Hall Instagram – This weeks #WCW is energy & climate justice lawyer Raya Salter (@Greengirlmagic). As the only WOC on the NY state climate action council, a body that will chart the nation’s leading climate goals- made possible by #grassroots organizing, Raya is all about making #NewYork more healthy, resilient, and just. Raya also serves as Lead Policy Organizer for NY Renews, a coalition of nearly 200 environmental, justice, faith, labor, and community groups, and the force behind the nation’s most progressive climate law, New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. At NY Renews, Raya will focus on the implementation of the CLCPA to ensure it is laser focused on not just emissions but also on racial and economic justice. “What we’re doing is, we’re looking at the legal tools that we have,and where we end up is that we need to look at energy law and policy through the lens of environmental justice, human rights, indigenous rights and climate justice to get at some of those answers.” #climateleadership #greengirlmagic #nyrenews #climatejusticeissocialjustice #environmentaljustice
