Last year july 4th @sonxemk and I did a hurried maternity photoshoot on the terrace of the apartment expecting our baby to come July end, and on july 5th evening in a dramatic turn of events, Avira came on my birthday and into our lives.
Being with her has been a gift for our family, especially in the last few months. However bleak and bad things look outside, we forget it when we're with her.
So this year, yesterday evening we decided to wear the same clothes as we did last year for the one year photoshoot. Thank you all for your wishes and your blessings, it means a lot to us. ❤️

Well it’s the end of a very special day. Got to celebrate my daughter’s first birthday and our joint birthday as well as our first (and hopefully only) lockdown birthday. Even with all the craziness out there at this time got some genuine surprises from my better half. The cancerian zodiac themed birthday and all the video calls from friends and family made it extra special. This last one year has been a roller coaster emotionally. And I feel like I’ve come out knowing little more about who’s who and what’s what. You can’t buy experience and perspective, comes only through the grind. So I’m most appreciative that on my birthday I celebrated it with the people who matter and with good health today. That’s the only think that counts now in the world. Thanks for the wishes everybody.

I love everything about it, the fonts ( the tall and short ‘Kamal’),the title credits,the music (oh,that music!) the costumes, the songs and dances, the fx! I started watching it to take screengrabs and couldn’t stop. This movie made me laugh,cry, and still wonder after all these years how they achieved the effects without traditional CG. That music still moves me after being parodied so much , I bet you’ll hear it when you see these images, that’s the power of Raja sirs score in this one! This movie makes me sentimental for the days when I remember watching it on video cassette. I can’t wait to show my daughter this movie when she’s old enough and see her reaction to it! I started working out last time this year to shed weight and lost 10 kgs over the last year. And then the lockdown happened. But going to have to figure out a way to get back on track. One of my early short films, We had planned something larger and more serious but after months of auditions, rehearsals and shoot it collapsed because we ran out of money. We had big dreams and small budgets. After it collapsed, and on the verge of depression, we said, let’s ditch the big effort and make something really small, stupid and funny with no planning. We went out to Kodambakkam, rented some wigs and this was the result.
Before people compared lions and other animals to heroes, before #TamilPadam, before #Lollusabha, there was Engal Aatha. A spoof of the cliches and melodrama we loved.
