Just learnt that my new drama “Heroes” got the number one viewership spot in China and that really made my day. It was a lengthy and difficult journey to be honest. Living out of a suitcase in a hotel room for months, deprived of home, family, friends, and almost everything that you are familiar and comfortable with. You are expected to deliver every time the camera is rolling, be it dialogues in the traditional format, or martial art skills that you do not possess, yet having to learn and memorize the moves on the spot, and look good doing it. While it’s great getting awesome reviews for my performance, I know the work is never really done. An awesome story about the legendary Huo yuanjia, a true national hero who stood firm for his people during the tumultuous time of great oppression by foreigner invaders. I played the Bandit Lord Sha Lang, who tried to kill HuoYuanjia in their very first meeting, only to later become his most trusted brother. To be honest it was a tough and lonely journey, being away from home for such a long time. Believe it when I say it’s harder than it looks. The first time I tried to wrap the Bak zhang it ended up looking like a Ketupat. The second time I tried it ended up like an Onigiri. Given my OCD, trying to get it into a symmetrical, proportionately perfect Pyramidal dumpling, took me plenty of swearing, effort and patience. Isn’t it interesting that somehow, when you make something yourself, its always more satisfying when you consume it? I guess that what “you reap what you sow” means. And so we’re left with the final question: “Do you prefer Sweet? Or Salty?” . Finally cut off my long and floppy hair. It was hot, hard to manage (I most prefer ZERO styling required) and it just gets in the way of my lifestyle. So, cut lah! People are generally resistant to change, fearful of the unfamiliar, and often justify that fear by coming up with excuses on why they shouldn’t try anything new. There are so many examples of people who were initially fearful and apprehensive about say, skydiving, bungee jumping, eating certain foods, even a new direction in life etc, but ended up loving it when they finally did it. More often than not, they would even gladly do those things again if given another chance, because they finally see that all the initial fears were actually unfounded. I believe in changing things for the better. The first few steps will be more difficult, but once you start moving, everything becomes clearer and easier. There’s really nothing to fear, except fear itself. Cliché, but so very true. 终于把长发给剪了。又热又难打理太麻烦了，所以毫不犹豫，剪了！ 大多数人通常都比较安于现状，对崭新或不熟悉的事物都会拥有一定程度的恐惧感。也通常都会寻找一些借口来安抚自己为何不愿意有所行动。 曾几何时，有多少人对如跳伞，蹦紧跳，新食材，甚至在生活上做出大改变等，拥有着无名的犹豫及恐惧？通常，唯有在尝试之后，他们才会发现之前的恐惧感根本就是毫无根据的。不但没有后悔，更会毫不犹豫地想要再来多一次。 我相信如果能够改变现状而让未来更好，那绝对是值得的。万事起头难，但只要继续向前迈进，会发现之前的犹豫，都只不过是杞人忧天。 恐惧感，最终只是心里的感觉。克服它，我们定可以克服一切。 #taypinghui #郑斌辉 #taypinghuisayone #monday #mondaymotivation #fear #nofear #change #changeyourlife #bebrave #haircut #sgunited #iamsingaporean #mysingapore

This 2 minute fight scene took about 5 days to complete. The weather was freezing, muscles were stiff and my weapon was heavy as hell. To say that it wasn’t tough would simply be arrogant. My character Sha Lang holds nothing back. If he wants to destroy you, he does it with absolute conviction and utter violence. All-or-nothing.
