She wears a striking red sari that she says, reminds her of her Bengali father and Polish mother. She has a picture of them stashed away in her phone. When she raises a bindi to her forehead and hands you an elusive smile, you feel the layers on her skin dissolving. Oh! I never planned to be a model or an actor. She remarks casually. It’s one of those happy accidents. The rain lashes against her voice as she sits cocooned inside glass walls. Her voice resonates as she points out, ironically, how removed Mumbai is from divinity despite being surrounded by temples, Mosques and Churches. . . Lisa Ray Instagram – There’s times I want to adorn myself in traditional fabrics, silhouettes and jewellery. Tonight I’m channeling my longing for India and pairing these gorgeous vintage Tibetan inspired earrings by @antiqa_handcrafted with rubies, Ethiopian opals and diamonds along with @tokreeshopjaipur new season floral kurta. Fortunately, we have enough Indian friends in #Singapore that will indulge my Desi moods. (Wearing a lot more ethnic wear than I ever wore in Mumbai 😎)
Lisa Ray Instagram – Happy to share my original piece for @kindleindia on Coddiwompling through these times. What’s that, you say? I dare say it might even tickle you out of your lockdown trance. Link to the article in bio. Here’s a little excerpt:

“Life can be hostile if we insist on sticking to a plan day after day, because it narrows our perceptions and sucks the joy out of simply stumbling into a bog of miracles.

The coddiwompler knows, don’t block the entrance. How do we understand the vast expanse of what it means to be alive if we don’t explore all its amazing possibilities and terrible realities? Illumination comes when you don’t actively seek it, but seek you must, the sacred in the everyday.

While the coddiwompler code prevents me from revealing more about the beatific yet vague destination, just remember: in disarray lie imaginative kingdoms. Surrender to the twin forces of wonder and absurdity that coddiwompling brings you amidst all the rage and fury of the world. (Brings hand to mouth and whispers: The truth is, everyone is winging it.)”
